Join pro filmmaker and travel content creator Alice Greenfield as she travels across the Isle of Wight, for a four-part deep-dive into travel filmmaking. We'll talk you through our best social media tips as we go. This course is supported by Sony UK. Alice creates beautiful, unexpected travel shots for the likes of Lost at Sea, Corona, Fullers and more. She will give you a full guide on how to get the best out of your trips, alongside building your confidence when shooting run-and-gun video.

16th August 2022 - 4pm - 4.30pm

Week one - introduction, planning and prep:

  • Introduction to Alice Greenfield and the type of work she creates.
  • Planning locations and trips; talk to shot lists.
  • Understanding your style and what to shoot.
  • Social media sell-in; making money from your work.
  • Summary of what's coming up.

23rd August 2022 - 4pm - 4.30pm

Week two - deep dive into gear:

  • Camera selection - what camera to choose and why; what settings Alice goes for; how to set up your camera ready for your trip.
  • Lens selection - what you need to get the best shots on the move, keeping weight and speed in mind. How to get those quality shots.
  • Bags; think about safety and light-weight travel.
  • Tripod/gimbal choices - how to make the right decision to balance stability and travel.
  • Accessories and extras - what you need for a trip like this, and other items to consider dependant on location and travel method.

30th August 2022 - 4pm - 4.30pm

Week three - on-location short-form on the Isle of Wight (storytelling):

  • Camera set up and setting choices to get that perfect shot.
  • Lens choices alongside filters for weather dependant shooting.
  • Composition and angles.
  • Contextualising your work - how to make the best travel to tell stories and created brand pieces.
  • Practical shooting tutorial incorporating product and more creative shots.
  • Interview process if required for short-form filmmaking.

6th September 2022 - 4pm - 4.30pm

Week four - contextualising your travel work and social media:

  • Camera set up and setting choices for more creative shots incorporating montages and context shots.
  • Lens choices alongside filters for weather dependant shooting.
  • What to look for to add context; composition and angling.
  • Scene selection for optimal results to enhance the full travel story from week three.
  • Practical shooting.
  • Take away tips and tricks from the full course.
