Shoot Studio Portraiture with Creative Direction

Join us for a studio portrait photography workshop led by award-winning artist Kristina Varaksina.

Kristina will begin this workshop by sharing her experiences and journey to becoming a professional photographer. She will discuss how she approaches portrait photography and how to highlight a subject's features, whether for editorial, commercial, or personal purposes.

Accompanied by a professional model, Kristina will speak about the importance of creating an impactful portrait, the creative elements and taking an idea from concept to reality.

In the practical section of this event, Kristina will demonstrate different lighting set-ups and effectively communicate with a model, styling team and set designers. You will have one-on-one time with the model and Kristina will be on-hand to advise and answer your questions.

• Working with professionals on the set
• The benefits of shooting Fujifilm

This session is supported by Fujifilm.

The Fujifilm team will be available to present an extended variety of the newest GFX cameras and lenses. Please bring your SD cards* as they will provide cameras and lenses to loan on the day.

A limited selection of Fujifilm cameras and lenses are available on the day; you are also welcome to bring your own kit and use it at this workshop.

About Kristina Varaksina

Russian-born Kristina Varaksina is a highly-regarded and accomplished photographer who explores female vulnerability and the human condition.

Her mission has been to bring attention to people from diverse backgrounds, making them more visible and valued through her art. By employing visual symbolism, captivating colours and expressive lighting Kristina’s work captures and conveys the profound emotion of the individuals she photographs.

With a Masters in photography from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, publications in TIME and The Guardian, and global recognition from the Portrait Of Humanity 2023 and BJP Female in Focus 2022 awards, Kristina has a wealth of knowledge that she is willing to share.
