Learn the art of animal photography from award-winning photographer, Jo Sax, in our upcoming workshop.
Jo will share her unique approach to photographing animals and how she maintains the well-being of her subjects while guided by professional animal handlers. A key feature of Jo’s captivating animal portraits is the dramatic lighting that helps build a narrative between her subjects and their environments.
During this workshop, Jo will cover effective lighting techniques, building creative sets and image composition to help you yield the best results from your animal subjects; highlighting their unique personalities and traits.
You will have a chance to shoot alongside Jo and have the opportunity to ask questions about her processes and photographic journey.
The course will cover:
• Working with animals and animal carers
• How to safely use artificial lighting
• Image composition, perspective and timing
• Camera settings and movement
• The benefits of shooting Fujifilm GFX
This session is supported by Fujifilm.
The Fujifilm team will be available to present an extended variety of the newest GFX cameras and lenses. Please bring your SD cards*, as they will provide cameras and lenses to loan on the day.
A limited selection of Fujifilm cameras and lenses are available on the day; you are also welcome to bring your own kit and use it at this workshop.

About Jo Sax
Jo Sax is an award-winning photographer with a unique blend of artistic sensibility and technical expertise. Creatively fuelled by her Fine Art studies, Jo has worked her way through the industry, harnessing her technical prowess and honing her distinctive photographic style.
While travelling across the globe to photograph a wider range of subjects, a stop in Australia marked a defining moment in Jo’s creative journey where she developed her signature storytelling approach to photographing animals, weaving intricate narratives between subjects and their environments.
