Light for Hair & Beauty Portraits

Join us in-store for a workshop on studio lighting in hair and beauty portraiture with international award-winning photographer Martin Higgs.

This workshop will help you understand a creative brief. We’ll talk through how to best highlight different elements of a portrait while shooting commercially with a professional model and hair stylist. Martin will begin this workshop by sharing his journey as a creative artist, and discussing how to manage clients' needs. He will give you some lighting tips and tricks as we go. This course is supported by Rotolight.

The workshop will cover:

• Planning and prep; fulfilling a brief, managing clients, models, hairstylists, etc.

• Fashion and beauty lighting techniques & gear requirements; budget to the best gear.

• Camera settings and composition.

• Getting creative with lighting; one-to-three point lighting set up.

• Directing models.

About Martin Higgs:

Martin Higgs is a hair, fashion and portrait photographer based in Essex, England. He’s worked on many commercial campaigns whilst competing in national and international hair competitions such as The L'Oréal Colour Trophy, The British Hairdressing Awards, and Wella Trend Vision. Martin's style is sharp, glossy and contemporary.
