#WomenCreateToo Podcast

#WomenCreateToo is a podcast that aims to bring together women of colour who work in, or aspire to work in, the film industry. They share experiences and discuss issues surrounding womanhood, being a creative, and getting into the industry.

This live talk will be a discussion between the four hosts of #WomenCreateToo, delving into their careers, filmmaking ventures, and how the podcast came about.

The hosts:

Natali Khalili Tari is a London based director, DOP, editor and photographer. She mainly works with brands, artists and corporations in producing visual content. One of her greatest passions lies in creating short films and documentaries, such as 'Between Mountains and Wars' that tells the story of three Bosnian-Jewish women that survived both the Holocaust and siege of Sarajevo.

Lauren McCollin is a videographer & editor based In East London, and has experience working with influencers, music artist, brands, short films and events. As a woman of West Indian descent in this industry, she strives to give voice to those like herself who are often underrepresented, capturing a different perspective through her lens. She is also an advocate for women in production.

Lola 'Lolly' Michaels is a BFI Award-winning DP, director and social entrepreneur based in South-east London. After transitioning from a solid career in marketing, she found herself working for notable influencers and musicians such as Yolanda Brown and Wande Coal. Whilst shooting BTS content, she gradually built her network and credibility, landing her work on Channel 4, The Metro and Complex.

Amongst the passion for the craft, Lolly is also focused on helping the upcoming generation of female filmmakers, which birthed #WomenCreateToo. This grabbed the attention of Superdrug, who supported the platform after Lolly was named one of the Superdrug’s Faces of the Future, last year.

Ruby Suze is a filmmaker, storyteller and creative entrepreneur. In 2019, her film was nominated at Toronto’s BufferFest Film Festival, for her film ‘Strong Black Woman’ where she explored issues around the black motherhood, identity and mental health. She featured in ‘A Dark Mind’ directed by Dami Adeyeye, which recently screened at the South Bank Centre. 

Ruby Suze is an advocate for the infertility and mental health issues. She featured in ‘A Dark Mind’ directed by Dami Adeyeye which recently screened at the South Bank Centre where she shares about her personal journey, and plans to create more films that explore these areas in future.

We will be live, and there will be a Q&A opportunity with the hosts of #WomenCreateToo; A group showcasing & supporting emerging female creatives in film. This talk is supported by LUMIX.
