About Ken Grant:

For nearly thirty years, Ken Grant has been photographing the South Wales Valleys, capturing the post-industrial transition of the landscape and the resilience of its communities. His images, which include the steadfast ponies that have populated the hills for millennia, document the themes of labour and endurance. The title Cwm means valley or corrie in Welsh, and the steep-sided valleys form the backbone of the images in this new book. Ken's photographs, taken in locations such as Beaufort, Ebbw Vale, and Fochriw, depict the green hills disrupted by roads, bridges, and rows of terraced houses, as well as the remnants of industrial development. His work creates a layered account of the region, highlighting its beauty, scars, and enduring life.
