About Ian Berry:

Ian Berry, born in Lancashire, England in 1934, is a British photojournalist renowned for his work with Magnum Photos. His reputation was established in South Africa, where he documented the 1960 Sharpeville massacre—the only photographer to do so—and his images were crucial in proving the victims’ innocence during the trial. His extensive body of work spans conflicts, famine, apartheid, and global issues, leaving an indelible mark on photojournalism. With a keen eye for human stories, he navigates complex themes with empathy and precision. His latest project, “Water,” underscores the urgency of environmental conservation and reminds us of our interconnectedness on a fragile planet.
