Kate and Brent Kirkman offer a rare combination of a couple who shoot all three disciplines of photographic stills, cinematic films and aerial footage.  

Kate is a second-career people photographer specialising in weddings, portraits and boudoir. In recent years she has also added cinematography to her skillset and what lies at the heart of her work is a fascination with how humans love and live. She feels very privileged to capture relationships – whether between a couple, a family, a woman with her body and self-esteem or even a human and an animal. It is like holding up a mirror to show people on the outside what they feel on the inside.

She works side by side with her husband and fellow Sony Europe Imaging Ambassador, Brent Kirkman, as an educator and mentor for Training by LUMIERE and in their destination wedding business. They describe their style as ‘fine art storytelling’ promising to capture natural emotion and human connection in a stylish and creative way. Crafting genuine, beautiful and artistic work that is unique and stands the test of time.

In this talk, they will discuss why they switched to Sony & mirrorless.  Showcasing the kit they use, their favourite features for both stills and video, and how they now incorporate 4k stills into the photography deliverables. They will also discuss lighting techniques, storage and file management.
