Join Wex and award-winning photographer Donal McCann for an afternoon of architectural photography.
On this walkthrough of The Titanic Quarter, comprising of historic maritime landmarks; the awe-inspiring modern Titanic Theatre; plus spectacular views from the river banks; Donal shares his experience and expertise on architectural photography, demonstrating techniques to help you create more dynamics and dramatic images.
You will learn the best angles to photograph from and how to deal with natural lighting when shooting during the winter season.
About the expert
In 2008 Donal won the prestigious title of Practical Photography’s Photographer of the Year. The judges described his winning image as ‘the best winning entry in the 50-year history of the magazine’. Unsurprisingly, this persuaded him to start working professionally full time.
In 2010 he launched his first solo exhibition in The Waterfront Hall in Belfast, producing a series of black and white images of Belfast’s homeless community and, in 2012, reached a personal milestone by gaining his fellowship with the Royal Photographic Society.
In October 2014, with the help of the Golden Thread Gallery in Belfast, he launched his second photographic exhibition, a collection of images based on the year in office of Belfast’s then Lord Mayor, Máirtín Ó Muilleoir. Over 15,000 images were taken over a period of 11 months, culminating in his first book, We, Too, Sing Belfast, published later that year. www.donalmccann.com
