Learn the basics of studio lighting for photographers getting starting or wanting to refresh how to use one to three point lighting setups.

Itinerary:

  • Basic camera settings
  • One-point light setups
  • Three-point light setups
  • Differences between hard and soft light
  • Controlling and manipulating lights with modifiers
  • Differences between flash and constant

In partnership with Interfit Photographic UK, this Back-to-basics workshop we introduce artificial light and ways of controlling it.

Lighting can be daunting to most photographers at any level. A relatively simple approach and setup can create a natural look. Learning to shape and modify light can change the mood of an image and open up new possibilities of creativity, even with minimal understanding of the systems.

We will also look at flash lighting setups and the application and benefits of this.

Schedule:

  • 11:00am - Meet and greet 
  • 11:30am - Introduction
  • 12:30pm - Exploring various types of lighting options
  • 1:00pm - One-point light setups and modifiers
  • 2:00pm - Lunch
  • 2:30pm – Three-point light setups and modifiers
  • 4:00pm - Finish

This workshop is for those who have a basic understanding of manual controls of a camera and would like to add the use of lighting to their photographic arsenal.

You will need:

  • Your DSLR/mirrorless camera and lens
  • Spare battery
  • Memory card
