Have you ever wondered how to become a professional drone pilot? Or how to make money with your drone? We invite beginner to intermediate photographers, and drone users to learn more. Join us for a talk by experts from the drone industry:

Sion Roberts of RUSTA who will discuss using your drone for commercial use in a safe and legal manner, as well as giving an introduction to becoming a qualified drone pilot.

Phil Harris, who has years of industry experience as a drone operator in the TV & film industry. He will share some insights on some of his latest projects and will be available to answer any questions you may have.

Interested in how to become a qualified drone pilot? Sion Roberts runs one of the original drone UAV academies in the UK. Established in 2014, RUSTA leads the way in UAV commercial training, and has trained in excess of 1000 operators and entities. All RUSTA instructors are aircrew instructors from both the Royal Air Force and Army Air Corps with thousands of hours flying experience on both manned and unmanned platforms. Interested in what being a drone pilot entails? Join Phil Harris as he shares some of his knowledge, stories and lessons learnt over his time working

as a freelance drone operator in the TV and film industry. His work has taken him all over the world, filming everything from documentaries to feature films, to

car commercials and even several TV series dedicated to the use of drones for filming. As with many creative jobs, it’s not as glamorous as some may think. Many shoots require long days, working in challenging environments with difficult crew and kit that can potentially fail. Phil discusses some of his stories and lessons learnt, so you can be best prepared without having to learn the hard way.

We will be covering:

Aged 24, Phil has already been in the drone industry for 5 years. With a background in film and a deep technical understanding of drones, Phil has honed his craft flying drones to capture high calibre aerial footage for a multitude of TV and Film productions. 

Productions worked for:

BBC, Sky Sports, Channel 4, Amazon, Netflix, Redbull Racing, TUI, KFC, Xbox, Lidl, Ford, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Audi, Hyundai, Kia, Isuzu, Dacia and many more.
