Portraiture and creative shooting | an introduction with Hannah Rooke
Saturday 7th December, 10:00am – 4:00pm
Join Hannah as she guides you through getting started with portraiture. The day will start with a brief introduction to portraits and studio work, alongside a short talk about Hannah and her career to date.
She will show you the differences and benefits of natural light versus studio lighting, inclusive of one light/two light setups. You will then have the chance to try these out for yourself. In the morning session, you will cover:
- Natural lighting when shooting portraiture
- One light setup
- Two light setup
- Posing and directing a professional model
- Using coloured gels
- Using light shapers such as softboxes
- Using a prism such as a fractal filter or glass ball
In the afternoon, you will go out around Bristol to look at how to work on location, using natural light. This will show you how to make the most of what you have around you, before heading back to finish off your images and critique the work you have produced. In the afternoon, Hannah will take you through:
- On location shooting
- Less than ideal environments and lighting
- Summary of the day
This workshop is ideal for those still learning, or looking to brush up on, and improve their portraiture techniques. Whether you are just starting out or looking for a refresher on working with less, this is the perfect workshop for you.
