Lighting portraits - masterclass with celebrity portrait photographer, Rory Lewis

All courses are practical tuition sessions giving you plenty of time to learn the skills taught in a hands-on manner; enabling you to work with professional models on the day and capture amazing photography for your portfolio. Group sizes are kept small so you can get more hands-on time in the practical tutorials. Rory uses fun and practical learning techniques for all his digital photography courses. You will work with professional models to hone your skills and walk away with new photography techniques.
From beginners to intermediate photographers, these sessions cater for the amateur and semi-professional: learn studio flash lighting, develop your understanding of studio technique and test using photographic models.
You will be shown the effect of softboxes, umbrellas, snoots, and beauty dishes alongside how to use reflectors and, both soft and hard lighting to change the mood and effect of a portrait. Learn what a main lights function is: how to use fill lights, back lights and hair lights and be shown how they affect the final image.
10:00am - Rory Lewis talks on the medium of portraiture
10.45am - Coffee & refreshments (provided)
11.00 am - High key portraiture (using umbrella's, softboxes)
12:30pm - Lunch
13:00pm - Beauty portraiture (butterfly lighting, using a beauty dish)
14:00pm - Low key portraiture (Rembrandt lighting, split & short lighting)
16:00pm - Rory will sum up the day

Rory Lewis is a British photographer known for his celebrity Portrait Photography. Lewis's inspirations include the works of Artist Hans Holbein the younger, Caravaggio, and the German Expressionist Movement of the 1920s. His portfolio includes sittings with Sir Patrick Stewart, Sir Ian McKellen, Rufus Sewell, Natalie Dormer, and many more. Lewis works between London and Los Angeles.
