In Conversation with Peter Van Agtmael
- May 2021
What you will learn in this course.
Magnum photographer Peter van Agtmael will discuss his latest photobook '2020', which recounts a momentous year in American history through photography. Diary entries accompany many of Peter's images.
Presented chronologically, the book unfolds with photos of COVID-19 in New York City, lockdown ‘rebellions’, progresses to the Black Lives Matter movement in the aftermath of the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis, the rise of dangerous militias, and culminates in the storming of the Capitol on Jan. 6, with Biden’s swearing-in a few weeks later.
Peter will then be joined by Martin Parr for a discussion before questions are opened up to the floor.
