Concrete Jungle | A brutalist architecture walk - London
National Theatre, Theatre Ave, South Bank, London, SE1 9PX
Sunday 18th August 11:00am - 3:00pm
Join us in the concrete jungle of London for our brutalist architecture walk. As we walk among these monolithic structures, you will be guided by Andrew Parnell, who will be giving you some insight into the creation of the buildings, the main features and the background of the architects that dreamed the designs.
During the mid-20th century (gaining popularity in the late 1950s and 1960s) this modernist movement still has a mixed reception in terms of aesthetics. Some of these designs have become listed buildings whilst others have been scheduled for demolition or left derelict.
This walk is for those who have beginner - intermediate photographic knowledge. Lead by a historian rather than a photographer, this is not a technical course. For those who might who require technical support during the walk, a member of the Wex team will be on hand to help.
This is a walk to inspire, inform and bring out creativity. Being informed about your subject can be just as valuable as knowing how to capture the angles and architecture.
We invite you to photograph whilst our guide briefs you on the history of each building.
You will need:
- Your camera and lens(es)
- Memory card
- Spare battery
