Our popular camera club is back this autumn at The Garage, Norwich.

Led by Wex staff and workshop pro, Chris Dunning, Angie Adams and Ylfa Jensdottir will add their specialist knowledge to the team to run fortnightly sessions covering range of exciting photographic techniques guaranteed to challenge and develop your skills and interest in photography.  Your efforts will be rewarded by the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised Arts Award qualification.

Each month there will be a three hour practical session and two hours of critique and feedback, helping you to hone your skills and develop your images.

 

You will need:

•             A camera with manually adjustable settings, eg a DSLR or compact system camera.
•             Access to a computer at home/school to edit and print your images.

Any other equipment or lenses we can supply free of charge.

Street photography:

Angie and Chris will walk you through this challenging photo shoot enabling you to understand portrait lighting and giving you the opportunity to work with a professional model.

Landscape photography:

Practical - Sunday 11th November with Ylfa and Chris

Meet at Mousehold Heath for a photo walk with landscape.  Ylfa and Chris will get you using tripods, considering composition and how to get that great atmospheric shot.

Critique - Sunday 2nd December with Ylfa and Chris

Long Exposure & Painting with Light:

Practical - Sunday 9th December Chris and Ylfa

Meet a little later than usual for the chance to shoot in the dark!  Whether it is capturing the movement of street cars, or Christmas lights, this workshop will be a fun Christmassy one as we round off the programme.

Critique - Sunday 16th December 10am-1pm

Critique and round up with an extended session Sunday 16th Dec with all the team.  Meet at the Garage. An important and fascinating element to your development as a photographer, critiques will get you thinking about editing and composing your images and looking their best. This extended session will give you the chance to choose your final images for the exhibition.

 

After the sessions are finished there will be an exhibition of the students’ work in the Norwich Store over the Christmas period.  A private view on the opening day for family and friends will give the chance to show off your hard work.

Ylfa

Ylfa is a fashion and portrait photographer. Inspired by 19th Century Romanticism, she uses a juxtaposition of light and dark as she sets out to make modern images that respond to and reference both the dreamlike and ethereal as well as the dark and eerie qualities of that period.

An experienced workshop leader at Wex and for the Camera Club, Chris has been passionate about photography and videography for a decade, having studied the former at university and worked in a freelance capacity on a number of projects prior to joining Wex.  Chris’s main photographic subjects are landscape, fine-art and street, but he is also interested in the creative potential of all modern imaging technology.

Angela Adams

Angela Adams

Angela is a qualified Tutor and professional photographer. She has achieved Fellowship with The Societies for her portrait work and was awarded Master Photographer status in January 2018.  Angela holds 2 Photographer of the Year titles, is a photography judge and writes a column for Imagemaker Magazine. In addition to running a successful commercial and social photography business, Angela has enjoyed a career in non-fiction writing for local and national publications, county magazines, books and websites.  Her Diploma in Interior Design aids with the styling of her commercial shoots and her passion for passing on knowledge see her training other photographers across the UK.
