Birds Of Prey Photography Workshop with Heather Beckett - Norwich 


Sunday 9th June12pm – 4pm  



Join Heather Becket and an expert falconer for our birds of prey photography workshop. The birds will be displayed amongst a wealth of picturesque backgrounds the Norwich area has to offer. 

Birds of prey, large and small, from Kestrels up to the stunning Great Grey Owl will be on hand and available throughout the day to be photographed in a range of scenarios, including in flight and perched within various locations during the workshop. 

Heather will be taking you through the stages of creating professional images including: 

  • Manual Camera Control. 
  • How to get the bird to look its best and looking alert. 
  • The right background for the bird. 
  • Using natural light with reflectors. 
  • Best settings to use for flight shots.  
  • Using autofocus tracking 


The Falconer will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about the birds. 

You will also get the chance to be photographed holding the birds with your own camera at the end of the workshop. 


You will need: 

-       Your DSLR/mirrorless camera 

-       Portrait and telephoto lens (zoom lens will also be sufficient) 

-       Tripod/monopod 

-       Memory card and spare battery 

-       Appropriate outdoor clothing 

-       Lunch 

-       Fold away chair (if you will need to sit)

Heather has been in the photography business for over 27 years, photographing over 1000 weddings and around 10,000 portraits. She is the only resident, official photographer at Smithills Hall in Bolton with her own studio and access to the 14th century rooms and acres of woodlands, fields and streams.  From indoor newborn photoshoots to outdoor lifestyle portraits, Heather loves to make the most of the environment around her and pass on her practical skills, hints and tips to help you get the most out of your photography.
