Philipp Ammon will talk about how he used his training in photojournalism and passion for documentary photography to shape a career in working with high end clients in London and around the world.

 

His presentation will look at the importance of photography as an emotive story-telling device, and how he uses it to pitch stories and ideas to potential clients. He will talk about the images he has made around the world and some of the technical challenges they entailed.  The goal is to help you understand how you can start to think of your work beyond the single image to build a deeply personal vision and a more valuable portfolio.

 

Throughout the presentation, you can expect to learn about:

 

  • What elements to think about when creating a photo-based story
  • How to find stories in day-to-day situations
  • Photography techniques and tools including composition, lighting and choosing the right equipment
  • Editing your images to create a flow and narrative. - Software and workflow
  • Using Lightroom to create a cohesive style
  • Presenting your work, and how social media can help you build your portfolio and reach new clients.
  • A Q&A Session to go over answer any questions about shooting better stories

Philipp Ammon

Philipp Ammon

Philipp is a London-based travel, documentary and commercial photographer. His career started as an international school teacher, before he moved to the UK and turned his passion for photography into a career. After completing an MA in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography, Philipp worked on a number political, commercial and humanitarian campaigns around the world and has been published in a variety of magazines including WIRED, Financial Times and The Independent.
